We had tickets, but my wife has just had a major ankle operation and is in a cast, so we sold our tickets for the show last night. (To friends at face value! I hate people who buy and resell for a profit)

The fact that JayZ is the opening act makes me kinda glad I'm not going. I had to sit through Kanye West last time and honestly, I was ready to start biting my arms off it was that terrible.

But yes, opening "act" aside, I'm quite sad (as is my poor wife) we're not able to go. They certainly put on an amazing show, glad to hear it was as awesome as always.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

I had a similar thing happen to me when I took my daughter to a Warriors game that was followed by a J. Williams and Dane Rumble concert. I didn't enjoy Mr Williams that much, but was quite surprised by how much I enjoyed Dane Rumbles set. He was helped by the fact that J. Williams seemed to be not much more than a glorified Karaoke performer, whereas Dane had a full live band filled with actual musicians (remember those, kids? The ones that play those old fashioned things called guitars and drums?)

Went Last Night just absolutely fantastic. Jay-Z surprised me far better than Kayne west. Told the teenage about Jay-Z and how I thought his hit about his Home was good and she said DUH That song was like on Flava every 5 mins I hate it.

Anyway just bought some $40 tickets and we are going tonight TOO WAHOO !!!!

Superb concert, as you'd expect from the rock gods. I'm no fan of rapping/hip hop, so can't comment on Jay Z, but U2 proved again why they're the best showmen IMHO.

Having said that, the sound quality wasn't great. I hadn't been to Mt Smart before but it seemed overly loud at the expense of quality. My ears are still ringing, something they weren't doing after the Popmart tour which I saw at the Sun Devil Stadium in Arizona.

But the concert itself was everything you expect from the band and more. I wasn't overly familiar with the latest album, but there's a good selection of their repertoire. The audience's average age would be maybe 35 and I saw a lot of silver haired seniors - not sure how they coped but St John's were on hand for anyone who found it a bit much.

Having had a 4.50am wakeup to get back to Wellington this morning (never let your wife book tickets for that hour...), I'm a bit jaded.

parking....wouldnt go to close as the cars that were trying to leave afterwards were going no where fast because of all the pedestrians.

We parked on Rockfield road down the far end (bout 20 min walk) and it was fine although we shot round the back of 1 tree hill and got on motorway at greenlane as ellerslie was stuffed.

Also make sure u walk to the correct gate. We went to the wrong one and had to walk all the way round the other side before they would let us in...extra 20 mins walking.

hope that helps

Got there early (about 4ish). Had a bit of a walk finding a pub but that just made the beer more refereshing

Wasn't too impressed by Jay-Z but then we were in the cheap seats (behind the stage) and his act wasn't 360.

U2 put on a good performance - the preaching came out near the end of the set.

Didn't realised how old they are now (and that makes me pretty old then too :-()
