I wanted to know if people found any problems with the models. The consumer we site had one review for the Fijitsu where they said the outdoor unit was much noisier than advertised.

Thanks :) I don't find our outside unit noisy at all.

The only "problem" we have is that the noise of the outside unit is transmitted along the copper pipes and you can hear it inside.

I haven't noticed it recently though, maybe I'm just getting used to it. It never was that noisy anyway.

We were warned by the installer that this would happen so I imagine it is quite normal/common.

The Fujitsu control is also quite simple when it comes to timer functions. If you're planning on having it turn on at 5am every weekday morning and on at 7am on weekends then forget it. The timer knows about one set of events only.

You can basically only program the next "event", this can be "on", "off", "on then off" and I think "off then on".

I believe the Mitsubishi has more options in this regard if that's what you want.

My parents have the Daikin units and they just turn them on and off as required. I haven't found them noisy and our Fujitsu is not noisy either.

Ok cheers for the info. We already have one Mitsi so I think we may go with the new Mitsi model as we are happy with our current one. Hopefully they haven't changed too much !

The Daikins do seem to be more expensive and supposedly better engineered but some of the ratings on Consumers online heatpump database for them are a bit low.

The impression I get about the Fujitsu's though is that they are not as good as Mitsubishi/Daikin

I know this post is a few days old now, but i understand that Mitsubishi heavy industries is supposed to be a better product than Mitsubishi electric.

My girlfriend has a Mitsubishi heat pump, it works well but I don't like the indoor unit much. It isn't good at directing the air where you want it.

My Daikin is much better. It works well and you have to be within a meter of the outdoor unit to hear it. The indoor unit makes a small noise, it has to move the air around, but on minimum fan it's fine. Even on maximum fan it's not bad unless you're listening to quiet TV or something.
