Just had an interesting phone call,

Person calls up claiming to be from Microsoft and saying that my computer is riddled with viruses and malware, etc.

Got me to go into the INF Folder under Window and claimed everything I could see in there was malware, then go into the Event Viewer and all the warnings/errors were programs failing due to viruses.

Then wanted me to take the last 6 digits of my Windows Product Key and put them into the www.logmein123.com website, and when the code failed he said it was due to my firewall being expired (I'm actually using Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials).

He wanted to pass me over to a Microsoft Certified Technician who was going to upgrade my firewall and charge me $140 for a 10 year license or smaller amounts for a lesser license.

I asked several times who makes this firewall and he kept dodging the question to the point where I just terminated the call (I would of done it sooner but I wanted to see where this was heading)

Call sounded like it was coming from overseas due to a small delay on the line and was indian, so if you get this just hang up :)

Unless anyone knows who I can refer this onto? I'm picking if this guy gets someone less knowledgeable they will fall for it.
