"Yeah nah" I dont trust them as a collective to have tazers.

They need to have a long record of appropriate use of pepper spray before they should be let loose with tazers....

Recent media reports of incompetence and misconduct, along with anecdotal evidence that I have heard, would suggest that now would be a highly inappropriate time to introduce taser guns into the police force. The fact that the police are not capable of using their existing tools to restrain offenders is not a good enough reason to equip them with an even more harmful tool.

I don't know if tarring the entire police force with the same brush is such an intelligent thing to do. What sort of society is it that we live in if we trust and rely on our police force?

And besides... think of how many other police forces around the world are worse than ours. Closest to home - the NSW police force. You can't get more corrupt than that!!

My opinion? (and that is all it is) Stay the hell out of trouble and situations where the police CAN turn against you. If you get tased, then you shouldn't have been in a position to have been restrained in the first place.

P.S. I want a taser Wink

I will say that when in the past I have needed the police (In the A.C.T. Australia) they got there fast they came in force and they dealt with the situation quickly.

But as with anything, doctors, salespeople (wow politcally correct), 'experts' and everything else there will always be the good and the bad. Sad as it always is it happens and the bad as they do, spoil it for the good.

Now if you want to get me started on the courts....

oh and blahbmc - You can make one from a disposable camera (with flash) and potentially embed one in your shoe (purely for self defence of course)

New side?! Define 'new' and 'side' :P
Personally I'd join the NZP if I got to be on the AOS or DPS
