So I made my first order through the DSE online store recently, Pokemon game for my sister.  The price was good and free shipping, and as no-one would price match it they were the way to go.  They took my money the next day, fair enough.  They also provided me with a courier ticket number.  Accoring to this the item should have been delivered today (my sister has been tracking it religously).  However as of 4:30 it hadn't showed.  So I called the courier company who, after some investigation, told me they had provided the wrong ticket number.  I double the DSE site so I knew I hadn't made a mistake.

So I called DSE who had a look and said it was fine.  I told her that the courier guys said it wasn't.  She assured me it was fine, and even had a reference number to prove it.  So I log on and what do you know, it had changed.  Now the courier website has my reference number, so this is the right one.  But it woun't be here til at least tomorrow which will disappoint my sister as they said it should be here today.

The thing that really annoys me is they won't admit they made a mistake: they just acted like it never happened.

hmmm well things are taking longer at the moment if you are in the SI, all cargo planes are going to christchurch which means mail is still being driven down last i heard - taking 1-2 days longer.

To me it actually sounds as if DSE or the courier company could be at fault here.

And is their any chance by the time you called DSE that it had already changed by then??

I am in Lower Hutt, Wellington.  So definitely North Island.  I have worked out that DSE gave me the wrong courier ticket number, but the really annoying thing is that when I called them the changed it in the computer WHILE telling me it was perfectly fine.  The order said courier ticket X, couriers said that was wrong.  I log into DSE website, says exactly what I told them.  I call them straight away, and the woman said that it was fine.  No its not I say as I have just called the courier company.  'Refresh your page if you like, it is fine.  It even has a reference number'  What do you know, the number has changed.  I just hate the fact they couldn't be honest about it. I don't believe it was a coincidence it changed at that exact moment.

So I am pretty sure it is not the couriers fault :)

CourierPost, though as I have said above I certainly don't think that its their fault.

I have had positive experiences with DSE online. Bought online on two occasions. Ordered bright and early in the morning and delivery in the early afternoon the very same day - it helps if you live in Auckland!

Courier companies aim for but don't guarantee overnight delivery. If you wanted something right now you should've gone to a store and bought it.

Its not the time frame that worries me (though same day would always be great!), I just don't like the fact that they didn't accept responsibility.  I just wonder if I had a more serious issue would it be swept aside as easily?

As I just said above (started typing it before you posted!) the wait is neither here nor there really.  Its their approach to my issue that disappointed me.

It's hard to believe they would change the ticket number online and lie about it. If they did that is pretty bad. Are you 100% sure the ticket number online changed?

Yep.  Looked on the screen 1 minute, next minute it had changed while on the phone.  I even followed the link provided on the DSE sight under my order to sign up for the alerts on where it was at (and this led me to the wrong 'initial' one, which matched up what was written on the screen).  The first ticket number I received was picked up the day before mine, in South Auckland as well by the same driver.  The original one and the correct one had only 2 digits different to each other, so could have been a typo.

Annoying, but it didn't delay things, all it did is wind you up a bit. Go have a beer and enjoy the game when it turns up :)
