Last night I was watching Sky TV and I noticed Fashion TV (of all channels) was broadcasting their content in 3D (3D Beta Test it said).

But Alas.. I don't have a 3D TV  but it was side to side Broadcast..

Thanks
Craig

That's what they all say :)

It appears the "3D beta test" watermark may actually be originating from Foxtel in Oz

Are you sure there was actually any 3D in the NZ feed other than the watermark?, I guess without a 3D TV to check there is no way of telling

It was definitely a 3D Broadcast (side by side format). (ie 2 stretched videos left/right which look the same). It was a little hard (impossible) to do the "crossing eyes trick" on a 50 inch non 3D TV to view it in 3D.

Thanks

Why would they be testing 3D? Shouldn't they be concentrating on improving their HD service? Would it require more bandwidth to broadcast 3D?

It was FashionTV testing.. not Sky.. sky just got the feed.. Fashion TV's broadcast is low quality even in 2D anyway.. not HD.

I remember when I was channel surfing early March and saw the same thing on fashion TV saying that they were having a full weekend of 3D on Fashion TV. Guess it only refers to TV channels up north running the channel inn HD as well..
