nate: Kiosks would be amazing, I hate waiting in lines at the post shop.
I wish they would have two lines - one for people who know what they are doing and want to get in and out quickly, the other for people who have no clue / are lonely, and want to talk about their lives and what they are doing for the rest of the day.
/end rant.

Just out of curiosity, why do you refer to it as "loserbank". Im not involved in banking industry, but compelled to know your motivation. IMO ASB is my loser bank!

I am pretty obviously not rischms but I do agree with him/her/it.
Kiwibank is a "loserbank" because it took the socialist government and Dim Jim to start it for third world idiological reasons (dislike of international ownership of any business, especially banks and airlines) when it was not needed. If it was needed then someone cleverer then Dim Jim, Helen and her menagerie of clowns would have started it in an eye blink.
Regarding NZ Post's proposed booths, I know many geeks here are kittygeeks but us older versions do not need to be too long in the canines to remember ticket vending machines that sold stamps off a coil. Very useful when the queues in Post Offices were clogged with people clutching their Post Office Savings books or wanting to conduct other lengthy and apparantly convoluted non core post business. Mmmm, that seems familiar today too, so lets send the core postal business out into the self service street and look after the non core businesses we dabble in order to try and wrangle a buck inside. Could only happen in a government owned organisation.

Because a majority of their customers will be always hovering around zero dollars, and they have eliminated fees which is the only way to make money off them, hence it will always loose money.
They lose NZ post money clearly from the dire position that nz post is in now.

Respect your view, but do you have any solid basis for deciding that their customers are poor? I think you will find the other banks would have the same % of what you refer to as 'zero balancers'. from a previous job, I noticed quite a number of business and private people who had all the sterotypes of having money using kiwibanks cheque books / cards. Everyone has their own needs in terms of fees and wouldnt you be happy if your bank wasnt charging a fee for everything under the sun and moon? I think you will find all banks have a zero fees account somewhere in their product portfolio.

...however if you look at the super economys...they all own quite fair chunk if not all their 'requied assets'.
