Hi

Some weeks ago I was offered a GMail account by someone. At the time I didn't realise one further advantage that such an account provides - Portability across ISP's!

So if anyone can offer me an invitation, I will greatfully accept.

Thanks

Mark

Thanks Brad - I think it was you who offered originally.
Once I have got a bit used to it, I'll be wanting (I think) to set it up as a POP account
and then allow pick up from my QTek 1010
See any problems?

You can avoid POP access and just use Gmail mobile. Just access Gmail using PIE and it will detect that you're on mobile device and switch accordingly to the best layout. Very nice. I used it on my smartphone :-)

But i hardly use that nowaday as I (finally) can get to my hotmail Windows Live Mail without WebMarshal blocking me... :-D (let's hope the company hasn't figure out that there is Windows Live Mail out there... ANYWAY... i can access mail.google.com and mail.live.com from work which eliminate the need to check mail from my smartphone.

I also have SMTP set up on my other special Gmail account (it's secret) which used to let me send emails via SMTP AUTH for my pocketpc/smartphone/laptop when i'm not at home base. Again, this is superceeded by the option given by my Webhost to use SMTP AUTH from there (on special request).

I got one of my "leisure" email address pointing to my gmail, and several "family" email addressed pointing to my another gmail, and a personal-casual email address at gmail, then rest at home domain email address....

(Gosh, why would someone needing so much email addresses!!!!!!!! 'cos one could never get enough email addresses! LOL)

Internet is my backyard...

POP is easier on your pocket when it comes to data. I prefer using a mail client to PIE and you can be alerted to when mail comes through instead having to check PIE. Very handy
