The bill of rights act for New Zealand -

the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law

http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1990/0109/latest/DLM225527.html

So how is it that this could happen:

Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act

And the copyright infringement law?

Wow, I am seriously being discouraged by the news in New Zealand at the moment. What happened to the freedoms we all took for granted?

If challenged, I believe they are going to be trying to justify these two laws on the basis of s5 of the Bill of Rights Act:

"Subject to section 4, the rights and freedoms contained in this Bill of Rights may be subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society."

Can anyone explain what was wrong with the already existing copyright law in relation to copyright violation?
