That's right. One of our humble IRC bots just got ASL'd.

For those that don't know asking "asl" in a chat room means you want to know the other persons "age , sex and location". IE You ask it as a prelude to meeting IRL or flirting with each other over IRC.

Congrats Geekzone_user2521. You just got trolled by an IRC bot :) :)

Ive got to start hanging out in there more often.... anyone want 2 children so I can do so ?

Friend of mine bypassed "ASL" with her first IRC experience.... entered the channel and typed "Hi, Im a 17yr old chick from Mt Wellington" - she couldnt keep up with the amount of chat windows that popped up ;) Good old #auckland.....

The stuff starting with [synirc] was in PM.

This actually happens fairly often. A lot of people used to join, say "Hi" and then quit when they didn't get a response immediately. To try to keep people in the channel a bit longer (until a real person notices), Summer will echo back a range of greetings to the user.

Unfortunately for this guy, there aren't all that many people around at 4 in the morning...
