Saw this on the tech liberty site:

New Zealand Customs have been trialling body scanners at Auckland Airport and are now working on plans to implement them

What a terrible idea, reminded me of Lessig's session from the NetHui where he was talking about how we need to resist blindly following along and doing what the US does.

Isn't the US moving to scanners that display a generic image with the suspicious items highlighted rather than an image of the actual person?

It may not be legal now, but you can imagine our noble MPs going very quickly to a midnight session and changing the law...
