Slightly OT but does anybody know why the Vodafone MusicFinder hasn't been launched on the Live! platform in NZ? It would seem surprising Telecom somehow getting an exclusive in the NZ marketplace when the company has taken the attitude of making their product available to any operator who wants it rather than forming exclusive deals.

I hope NZ ad agencies will pickup the technique the Japan/Korea/Taiwan/China has been doing, by acknowledging the artist/song title that is being used for that ad. That way, it helps selling the products as well as promote the music, in the end, if someone like the music or the ad or both will remember their products easier, because there is something that they all can relate to, whether the tune or the product or service being advertised.

I mean, there are a lot of great tunes used on tv adverts and you do hear them from radio etc, but no one can isntantly remember the name of the band/artist.

I'm still hoping to get Vodafone's Mayfly's music but i don't have 3G Vodafone Live. Maybe Johnr can send me the song? (PLEASE?) hehe...

Hi - the track is by Lemon Jelly - called '93 aka Don’t Stop Now

It is from their album '64-'95 but with the vocal lifted from it.

There is a good profile of the duo on the xl site http://www.xlrecordings.com/lemonjelly/

Don't think they have ventured too far out of the UK yet so remain virtually unknown in NZ.

cheers,

DLS

Lemon Jelly have had one song reach our shores - "Nice Weather for Ducks" ["All the Ducks are swimming in the water...."] It was quite popular for a few weeks before it bombed out of the Top 40, unlike the Crazy-Frog phenomenon.

Lemon Jelly have also been used for another ad on NZ television. The song is called "The Staunton Lick" and I can't remember for the life of me what the product being advertised is (!) but I think it was insurance or banking or mortgages or something like that. Basically the ad went through various stages of the human life cycle and said things like "at 3 months, success is walking" and "at 15, success is getting your drivers license" and then "at 30, success is having a family" etc etc - bloody good tune! available on coketunes, preview it and I'm sure you'll recognise it!

Correct, it was for AMP.

When I want to find a song, sometimes I can find it here:

http://library.christchurch.org.nz/music/advertmusic/

You can update it too, incase you know of one that isn't on the list.
