Just got an email, DSE are doing a special one hour deal on this...

http://dicksmith.co.nz/product/XC7795/

S
elling it for $299 between 7pm and 8pm today only.

Seems like an OK deal if you're after a cheapo netbook.

I just sent that around work. Dual boot Android/Windows too - that's a great price.

Thanks for posting this.  Do you know if it is online or in-store only or both?

The webpage with the offer has got a banner in the corner stating 'Online Exclusive'

Then again, it also has a 'Shop Now' button even though it's only available between 19:00 and 20:00.  (Which, when you click it at the moment asks you to pay $375)

I'm not a big fan of Acer but all-in-all a pretty damn good deal.

I also note that Dickies will be selling Kindles as of next week sometime, at pretty competitive prices with Amazon once you pay shipping.

After I was born, I didn't talk to my parents for two years.

This deal is for the Intel N455 Atom 1.6Ghz single core.

I have the same netbook but with a 1Ghz dual core AMD C50 APU, and I use it as my main PC connected to 2x 1080p 24inch LCD's.

I wonder how his Cpu compares to mine?

If its the same, I would recommend it. I have installed 4GB ram and a 60GB SSD though, which I think is a must.

Overall I would give this netbook (the C50) a 4 out of 5 stars with the upgrade.

[EDIT] Apparently the Atom is not very good compared with the AMD Fusion C50 (No 720P LCD, No HDMI) If this is the case, I wouldn't waste your $300. If my netbook was a tad bit slower it would be unbearable, and 1/5 stars.

Heavenlywild:   LOL, I was only just fixing it! Oh well, let me repost:)

You may want to consider spending a wee bit more, as the Atom processor is a bit of a FAIL in terms of performance. Since you will most likely use this for a long time, might be a worthy upgrade.

It's the Acer Aspire One AO522 10.1 Netbook. Comes with AMD Fusion. Get it at JB for $499 approx as they have a 10% off sale at the moment.
