will this be enough to convert any of the PC users to MAC
as they can run windows now anyway to have option of both,

because with the new Intel Mac Pro it should be powerful enuf to PC gamers to run games etc  too, plus looks better lol

im just getting opinions, im jus another mac fan here.

I couldnt quite bring myself to switch. I would use Windows anyway, and a PC as far as I know would offer better value for money, compared to an equally priced MAC? Althrough you are correct, they do look good.

The problem in NZ is cost, how many people can drop $5200 on a Mac Pro excluding monitor?

When the Core 2 Duo iMac comes out ~$2600 it should represent good value (with all the caveats of an all-in-one).

Apple simply doesn't have a wide enough product line to really go mainstream.

(Typing this on a 1.83Ghz/2GB MacBook hooked up to a Dell 20" LCD, with a 1.83Ghz/1GB 17" iMac at the office)

It's a huge cost for Mac users at home. Apple computers are not cheap, and "run Windows" means that you have to buy a copy of Windows, which is not cheap. When you buy an Intel PC with Windows pre-installed the O&M copy is much cheaper than what you will pay when buying a full box at any retail, to install on your Mac.

So, add the cost of an Apple computer, plus the Windows software... You can buy a very powerful Intel Windows machine and still have change.

I fail to see why people would blow so much money buying an apple when they can get a much better spec'ed PC for a lot less.

How do you explain the price differential? The OS certainly isn't worth that much!!!!

yea i guess its more graphics or movie industry.... its is very expensive if your just using it for home or office use really

i just like the OS, no ad aware, spyware etc etc...
but i think in few days apple(renaissance) is bringing out a deal, trade-up, like those cell phone ones, bring ur old one n trade up to new one.

but the GM of renasance couldnt tell me the whole thing, but it might be trading up from old MACs AND PC's.. we'll find out in few days tho.

i dont know how Mac OS is going to do agianst MS Vista , anyone had a play with vista?

go to Apple.com and check out the apple tv ad's lol, they take the piss out of PC(very true tho) except the price thing lol

I have just purchased a MacBook 1.83GHz with 1GB of RAM.

The price I paid for this machine was lower than an equivalent PC. Here in the UK, Apple's are competitvely priced when compared to EQUIVALENT machines.

Oh so often I here people say "look, I can get a PeeCee on Dell for £400 with a flat screen monitor, you can't do that at Apple can you?"

Apples are not cheap, but they are very good value.
