So took the forester into get a warrant on saturday, i knew it was going to fail but atleast i would know what on. I was suspecting the front right to get the fail and maybe some new brake pads.. The results came in and i was floored. Not 1 new tyre but 4.. oh bugger!
Untill now ive been getting by on second hand tyres from ex lease cars which has been ok but every second wof i would need to get a new tyre. Well im over that now, im thinking its time to go and buy some new ones and maybe get a couple of years out of them instead of 1 if im lucky.
So ive been hunting around and trademe has a good deal on some slightly dubious tyres from such brands as Sunny and Altenzo in the $150 price bracket (225/50/17), i realise these are going to be noisy Chinese made tyres, which dosnt bother me so much, just after something that will get me from a to b safely, and will last a reasonable amount of time.
Obviously having to buy 4 tyres at once is going to dent the wallet quite well so im after that magical combination of cheap & good, im guessing i can probably choose one or the other and that theres isnt such a thing as cheap and good with tyres lol. Has anyone had experiences with these tyres?
The alternatice is some GT radial Champiro 228's which i can get for $255 a tyre.. yep an extra $100 on the Chinese made quality.
Thoughts / opinions would be greatly appreciated!
