I need some help trying to convince a friend.
I have a friend that wants to get into interactive media (Websites, Games etc) as his career. He thinks he would be able to easily get a job if he just gets a Diploma from Natcoll. My sister (WHo also went to Natcoll) and I have been trying to convince him to shoot higher and go to one of the Universities that Offers Bachelors Degrees and that also help you develop a portfolio while you study like Waikato Uni.
His spoken reason is that he wants to stay in Auckland is so he can try and avoid a long distance relationship (Something I know I can't change), but I think the real reason, hinting from things hes said, is that he doesn't want to make a major decision like choosing what place he wants to go to and study without knowing anything about the place he would have to move to.
I don't want to see him waste his money getting the diploma thinking hell just get a job, but I'm frankly clueless as to what to say to him. I've never had to convince somebody of something like this before. I've tried the token risk taking speech, I just don't know what else to say. Any ideas?
