I wasn't sure where to post this question so here goes, I have an Emachine (eM350 manufacture Acer) using XP Home edition and am attempting to connect it via my VGA cord to  my Sony KDL-32EX400 but my lap top doesn't even seem to comunicate with the tv as I can't even select the PC input on the TV. I have pressed the Fn + f5 keys until dual monitors is selected and also tried pressing this combo until an icon with 1 and 2 is selected but still my TV doesn't seem to recognize it is connected to a laptop. Can someone help me with this setup. the TV allows my Desktop to connect no trouble (maybe because I have Windows7 Home Premium and a NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE Graphics card. Note my Notebook has Graphics Accelerator 3150 with latest driver. Sorry for the long story I just wanted to be sure I'm clear.

You would need to enable dual monitors in the display properties after plugging it into the TV.

I have done this; steps I took opened control panel clicked Display clicked Settings Tab clicked on Monitor Icon with the 2 on it and tried ticking Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor that didn't work so I unticked it still no go the res I set to the TV's native 1920x1080 with Highest Color quality of 32 bit. Also tried clicking Identify that didn't do much except display a large 1 on the Laptop display. Trouble shooter didn't help either.

I know there is no problem with the VGA cord as it still works with my Desktop. The advantage I have on my Desktop is there is a Detect option as well as the identify option (using Windows7)

I assume there is a Driver for the Sony KDL-32EX400 that is in the Windows7 driver set but not XP Home premium I have tried to google such a Driver with no luck

I have tried to update the Plug and Play Monitor driver program but I'm told there is no better match
