I hope everybody doesnt come out of the wood work now and say all of this garbage. 99% of the country were bagging him (Including me). I hope everybody doesnt hop on the "Stephen Donald is awesome" bandwagon. Not trying to sound negative or anything, but Bandwagon jumpers annoy me.

he didn't play that awesome.

kicked an incredibly easy penalty and made one line break. big deal. Once he came on the ABs lost any attacking ability. That's probably why they scored only 3 points in the second half to France's 7

Sorry, I must have been watching a different game if you think that's all he contributed.  The best part for me is all the talking heads in the media that have bagged him since last years test in Hong Kong have  had to eat their words.

I thought he played great, all things considered.
I was one who thought 'Oh noooo' when Cruden went down and seeing Beaver warm up, but I am happy to eat humble pie and say he absorbed all the pressure and did what was needed.

Thanks Steven Donald.

did you watch the match? weepu missed 2 as easy if not easier penalties.

when he came on he first went to fullback while dagger (and sometimes richard kahui!) played first receiver. i have no idea why. may because it was pre planned. then something happened in the dressing room at half time and he came out at flyhalf.

and our attack - how do you attack if you don't have the ball (ie from 30th minute to the 76.5th minute)?

Considering he was all but having a holiday and had never played a game during the entire World Cup, I thought he did pretty well and handled the pressure great.

I had never really understood why Steven Donald was so vilified to be honest. No one else can be Dan Carter, and I don't expect them to be. Just as I expect mistakes to be made.

As someone already said, Weepu missed something like 8 points in the final, but I'm not going to hate him for it, nor am I going to skimp out the credit Donald deserves to make the winning kick. Honestly, if it weren't for the kick, we would have lost.

Nope ...  I meant he finally did something right after 'fluffing' his chances when he was picked to play for the All Blacks all those moons ago.

what is the problem with donald "fluffing his chances" in random test? i'll tell you why:

what is the use of quade cooper doing magic with the ball in trinations?

what is the use of carlos spencer doing maradona with the ball and winning john mitchell 95% of test matches before cardiff 2007?

what is the use of joe rokococo scoring 3 tries per test right up to cardiff 2007? where is he now?

why should france play their hearts out in meaningless matches?

the silver ferns missed their last 5 shots in a row when they lost to australia in netball world champ final in 2011 and 1999. prior to that they had beaten australia hands down.

and why should stephen donald "fluff" when it wasn't the world cup final - why not?
