I know there's another thread on the above website, but just wanted to reiterate, based on my opinion and experience:

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS

Yes, I know I shouldn't have done it, but heh, I like to gamble just a little now and then.

I ordered a battery, after all it's an NZ domain name, and has the official "NZ Post" image at the top, so it must be OK. I traced the package as it wound its way through China, Singapore, Auckland and then through NZ Post to my home. Great service! I thought with optimism.

Only problem is... it didn't fit. After website searches I found the connectors were actually the wrong way around! I contacted their customer support via email, and "Sunny" responded very efficiently saying "Don't worry.. we strive for 100% customer satisfaction etc...". Just return the battery at purchaser's cost and they'll sort it all out. Suffice it to say, but after 24 emails (I'm a sucker for punishment), I was no further ahead. Their aim seems to be to drag things out until you give up, pay them more money, or until it becomes too difficult to get your funds back from paypal.

Now trying to chargeback the item through my credit card. I've also informed NZ Post of the possible unapproved use of their logo on the website.

Also be aware that you are not permitted to ship lithium-ion batteries through normal NZ Post means. You must send it, specially packaged, through a courier company. So while it "cost" them $12 to ship the battery to me. it would cost me over $55 (more than the battery is worth) to ship it back to them... unless of course you lie to NZ Post on the declaration and when they ask you what's in the package.

I wish I had seen this posting sooner -

I just stupidly bought a battery from this guy and now I am getting worried

I suppose I could get lucky and it may be the right one and not take too long to get here

I spit the dummy when the tracking number said "Left country of origin"

What the FxxK I to believed I was purchasing from a NZ retailer

I will post back further when it arrives

Good luck. Let us know how it goes. It may work out for you. In my case, the credit card company says I must return the battery in order for them to process the chargeback. So, send it back at a courier cost of $58 (battery 'cost' $56) as per International Air Transport Association (IATA) requirements for shipping lithium-ion batteries? Or lie on the declaration form ("tell them it's a power adaptor" as instructed by the company) and pay $18? Neither would give me any guarantee that I'd ever receive anything worthwhile back.

Also be aware that these are "clones". For my battery, the build quality is nowhere near as robust as Toshiba manufacture originals. The plastic connectors (even though they were the wrong way around) looked liked they'd easily break off.

OK the battery arrived it was sent Singapore Post

It was I suppose the correct one but it has a sucky problem

When i turn the laptop on the battery icon shows a red x and when i click on it it pops up and says -

Zero % charge and it indicates that the battery is not charging -

The battery is charging because I ran it down watching videos and then I charged it back up - How long did it take to charge up I DO NOT KNOW because there is no indicator

When I put my old battery which still works this problem does not happen so it not my computer

I even used a linux live cd and it present the same exact problem

I bought a battery off these guys, several months ago, also thinking they were local. Got concerned once I realised they werent and was ready to kiss goodbye to my money. Battery arrived a few days later and has been okay thus far although battery life is NOT great. Had a "supposed" three year warranty so I guess time will tell.

Looks like you were luckier than me. The "guarantee" of three years looks good, but again keep in mind that if it's a lithium-ion battery you would need to ship it back to them specially packaged by courier at a cost to you that would be more than the battery is worth. Shipping these via NZ Post is not permitted... although they seem to be doing it without any problem.

It was delivered to me by NZ Post (courier post) so and customs declaration said it was a battery. If it fails (as i expect it will) I think I will probably just flag it but hope that other people may be a bit wary.

it's amazing how things work ... the battery factory is probably built right next to the dell/toshiba battery factory but using copied material (ok don't ask me how i just heard rumours from my uncles who know it all) and both set of workers get paid poo poo but one set of bosses are prepared to lie through their teeth and cause grief to a few techno savvy geeks.

it's not just batteries - shoes, clothes have been around for a while ... and now loudspeakers and the likes! cars next?

yeah i follow 2 simple rules but follow them to the book - ensure they are local depot, and that there are sufficient feedback to describe the product accurately to the advertised version

but if you think about it it's not that hard - someone with balls dreams up a scam to get finance from the already rich who want to get richer, bribe the local council, bribe the factory chief of the real deal plant, hire the 200 of the 2 billion people in exchange for fake baby milk powder, and there you have it - the new yaudi A4. except that if you drive it at 100ks though a corner, the esp will randomly work around 3.2 seconds later than the A4, the abs might lock up once in a while, the seatbelts might loosen after 3 months, and there is probably no cockpit cell reinforcement - they omitted that one just to make lots more money than they already are - why not go the full monty of getting rich ... how lovely

I would also like to reiterate that you shouldn't buy anything from www.global-battery.co.nz!

I bought a battery from them last month, and when it arrived it was cracked in several places. I'm still trying to get a refund. I thought I had reasonable protection with Paypal, but they require me to ship the battery back. I just tried to ship it back and found out that there's a $50 premium for sending lithium batteries from NZ.

Does anyone know what the laws are regarding nz domain names and overseas traders?

in some ways, australia is more first world then us ... ?

I second that - the "nz" should mean it is a nz company (or has a nz physical address at least).
