Howdy,

i'm off to visit Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong in November and I was thinking about picking up a new notebook while I am there along with some other stuff like a PMP for video and music.

Anyone done any shopping in these places and have any tips.

Cheers.

I was in China at the end of last year and good branded items cost more than in NZ

IMHO Hong Kong is the best place to buy a notebook.

And if you have time take a look here: www.virtualtourist.com
I found this the best website giving me tips about the destination I visited. Shopping, life, dangers, people, everything

For example Hong Kong

Yeah I have checked out the sony shop and apple in HK and they are def cheaper then here. I think the latest ipod nano 8gb was about $250 less. I'm prob going to pick up a second Vaio SZ series while I am there, just hoping they have the new core 2 duo models by then (they are available in the states already).

Virtual tourist is a great site - I have spent a bit of time there checking out Beijing and Shanghai.

Sony will have an updated version of the VAIO range (including SZ, TX) by the end of this month.... it is likely to be the Duo Core 2 series

Yeah I have decided on the Vaio TX so if they do get a CPU upgrade before I get to buy it that would be great.
