Anyone ever stripped off and gotten a ride on the Naked Bus for $1?

Just curious. :-)

Didn´t strip off but I´m sure way back I didn´t get naked from Auckland to Napier for $5. Saying that I travelled Auckland to New Plymouth on their
competition for $1 so it pays to check the inter city lot

I heard they had a bad rep, both with timetables and rude drivers.

When I said I was too old, I meant it. I prefer comfort when I travel and I have found TranzAlpine fits the bill for me if I cant drive or fly. I can hang out on the deck and take pics, work on the laptop, have a comfortable meal and a decent bathroom. Its worth the $80. :)

I've found them to be really good. $1 fares are not too hard to get if you book a month or two ahead.

I feel like I'm ripping them off when I get these $1 fares and use their onboard wifi which is complimentary.

I've never managed a $1 trip but have used them from New Plymouth to Hamilton many times.  Buses aren't the most comfortable in the world and the drivers aren't the greatest at making you feel welcome, but hey, they always got me where I was going and without charging a fortune . At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and I am happy to use again in the future.

I've scored tickets from Oamaru to Christchurch one way for $1 before. If I missed on the $1 fare and booked it early enough was $12.99 I think? I've never had any problems, sometimes 5 minutes or so behind schedule but always good service with one route I was on having free wifi

I've used them plenty to get from Wellington to Hawke's Bay.

I'm not brave enough to turn up sky-clad, maybe one day.

Yeah, I agree it's a budget service and you get what you pay for.

I caught buses around South East Asia, Naked has nothing on the 8 hours over dirt road on a fold down seat to I did to get to Angkor Watt. Mind you I the Sound Shell has nothing on Angkor Watt eitherSmile

That doesn't happen to just Naked Bus. In fact, all customer service industries, like supermarket checkouts and hotel receptionists. Luck of the draw if you get someone nice, or a grumpy person who doesn't want to be at work that day.

I wouldn't say Naked Bus as a whole all have rude drivers (well, not the ones in the South Island I've experienced).

When I first read this, I thought all passengers wear only their birthday suits when they board the bus, like some sort of exotic thing in NZ. Then I realised it is just a budget bus company. I remember reading about Auckland having a naked festival of some sort?

Ive gotten quite a few $1 bus's between Blenheim and Christchurch. I believe they have 1 $1 seat on every bus, you just have to book far enough in advance to get that seat.
Getting to Christchurch and back for $3 is an awesome deal! ($2 for the seats and theres a $1 booking charge)

The old TAB Sports Cafe used to sponsor Nude Day, I actually have on of the T-shirts from the early new millennium. I don't know where you would find the videos people sent in but the one of the nude dudes on the Great Wall of China and the nude ballet at Otago University were highlights.

Back on topic a truly naked bus would suffer for from the same problem as nude beaches. Most people, myself included, don't look that good unclothed. There is a reason strippers make a lot of money and people pay go to strip clubs (both male and female); people who look good naked are not that common.

Personally I think the idea is not to look good, but to be free from social conventions. To let it all hang loose. To let society know that we shall not be bound by archaic laws and rules from the past centuries! To be able to get the freak on, in public! It is a basic human right to walk around the streets in one's own skin! It is a basic right to engage in perfectly natural activities in public! We demand our rights!

Just kidding. As for looking good, you know what they say, good things come in small packages.

I have read numerous reviews about bad service from naked bus. Ride intercity, much more enjoyable
