Anyone else got SMS spam today?

From  6061   "How bromitted are you? Visit bromitment.co.nz & be in to win of Pepsi Max's $30k epic adventures for you and 3 mates"

No unsubscribe and I have no idea why they are SMSing me as I cannot remember giving Colenso BBDO/Pepsi permission to contact me in any way.

I really would have thought  Colenso BBDO on half of Pepsi would have a clue about Spam.

Yes I have complained to the DIA already ...

THanks

Good to know, Vodafone are looking it into this now and hope it's not been sent to our customers,

Edit: Yes it is and they sent it to the staff member in Vodafone NZ that manages the Short code relationships with partners, She is now contacting them and asking for a please explain!

Potentially a result of a 'txt code to win' promo? (the other reason I enter those online or not at all and not via txt)

Never entered a V one in the past? (frucor beverages are the pepsi/v distro)

The plot thickens, looking up the whois data for the domain reveals a colensobbdo.co.nz (or ColensoBBDO), the same advertising agency that did the Vodafone NZ "Double Back" ads.

I was just pointing out the correlation, not implying anything really. Surely, if this is the case (they did work on the ad with you) then you would be able to contact them?

Vodafone has contacted the SMS partner that sent the SMS thru our network (I will not name them) as it might be just an error

As posted before, if you entered any SMS competition remember the fineprint. Most of them say if you enter via SMS you are agreeing to receive promotional messages later.

The promotion is one on Pepsi Max bottles. To enter you have to sign into Facebook and also select contacts who want to be your "bros" to enter the competition. Could it be that they're harvesting mobile numbers from FB to spam people?
