I have been using Google Reader for a long time but the update speed for geekzone feeds is currently terrible. No fault of geekzone, its just that google gives feeds with lower number of subscribers less priority and it does not update those feeds as often.

Any satisfied user recommendations for other web based rss readers?

Which feed updates slowly for you?

I use FeedDemon syncing to Google Reader - I never used Google reader directly. Geekzone feeds update almost instantly, be the main feed, blogs or forums.

We use Google Feedburner and our main feed got more than 80,000 subscribers so I wouldn't say it's "small"...

Good question, I'll keep an eye on that.

This has been on my to do list for a while, it could have been a temporary problem some time ago.

Which is the main feed by the way?

At present I am subscribed to each forum topic individually.

The main feed is the news and blogs stories.

freitasm: Which feed updates slowly for you?

Today - I received email notifications for the 'mega upload' and 'evil mastermind' topics at 10:05 and 10:09.

At 10:34 these have not yet appeared in the off topic feed in Google Reader.

The 'who delivers fedex in new zealand' also on off topic came through on the reader at almost the same time as the email notification...

Remember RSS readers are not "push", they're pull. Because of that they work on a schedule. This is unlike email...

I'm not following you there.

Do you mean the geekzone rss feed is published from the geekzone forums on a varying schedule?

Or maybe that Google updates the reader feeds on a varying schedule?

This. Also the feeds are cached at the CDN for 15 minutes before being refreshed. Otherwise we would have to put a much bigger server here.
