Anyone know how long it takes google to modify contact details on a business listing? My phone number is on a business listing that I setup for a business so they could be on google maps. I have had it changed, but google maps still show my number, instead of the bsuiness. After changing it , it says it has been sent for review, but the best part of a week later, it is still showing my number. Really annoying as I keep getting calls for a business that isn't mine.

Goodl luck getting an answer from Google. I have an account manager and still don't get a reply from my questions related to business.

... so you fudged a listing and are now paying for it? Whoops? Lesson learned maybe?

(Google being as big as they are, I wouldn't bet on a timely response... I suggest all you can do is ping them daily requests for update on your service request...)

I didn't really fudge it, I didn't enter a phone number as I didn't know what their number was at the time, and google automatically filled it in for me with mine, so I must have set it up under my account. I might try again later, and see if it is somehow linked to my google account, where I can change it without it needing to be reviewed.

I do worry though if the NZ gov is looking to use google for their services, yet they don't really provide much support.

Login at http://www.google.com/places/

Also make sure the listings on finda.co.nz and yellow.co.nz have the correct number.

This is a statement rooted in FUD.  Govt.nz is unlikely to outsource offshore in any significant fashion (jursidictional issues) and any arrangements would have well documented support procedures in place.   You're bordering on trolling with this one, imho.

FWIW given your revised description of what happened, I agree that Google really do owe you a relatively timely response.  Unfortunately as with all 'huge' organisations, it's very hard to be treated like an individual... I much prefer to deal with org's that're an order of magnitude or two smaller than the likes of Google, tbh, but i realise that view doesn't help you much.

Good luck.

I sent them a map correction message because they had a street name spelled wrong. They emailed back within a few days to say I was right and they were going to fix it. But that was nearly a month ago now and they still haven't done so.

I've sent in, a couple of times, a map correction - they have the new Taupo bypass in the wrong place by kilometres!

Hey - they've moved it!!  I first reported it 3 or 4 months ago.

They can be very difficult to contact. A number of people have reported a couple of problems with the NZ holidays calendar over the past couple of years, yet the problem remains unchanged. (Some incorrect and many missing dates, impossible to remove it once added).

The joys of dealing with gargantuan faceless corporations.

They have just contacted me to say they have changed it. A bit slow but not too bad in the end.
