Hi all,

I'm hunting for replacement batteries for two different Sony VAIOs.

I can find dozens of sites, but they all seem like generic overseas-based vendors and it all seems a bit hit-and-miss as to which sites would be reliable versus which could be problematic if there were any faults or problems with the batteries ordered.

Anyone here know of any trustworthy sites/sources for replacement laptop batteries?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

http://www.laptopbattery.co.nz/

I have used them, they are fine.

You may get cheaper by looking in places like DealExtreme.

Pretty sure I've used that same site as trig with no problems.

They may seem like a good deal, but I've found most 3rd party batteries (i.e. - cheap chinese knockoffs) are often more trouble than they're worth, they don't _quite_ tend to fit properly (they stay put though), and life is usually nowhere near what it should be for a given mAh rating.

Stick with the "real thing" or at least if you're going to go 3rd party, go with a reputable manufacturer (Mugen etc).

I also bought a battery from Laptopbattery. The sales process is fine, but my batter has "reached it's useful life" after only 8 months :(

I had the same problem with a battery I bought from them, had 25% wear from day 1 and wore rapidly to then die completely after just over a year. Original Asus battery is now 7 years old and still has at least some juice left in it.

If only I had read this post a month ago!. I bought two batteries from a USA retailer. One of the batteries doesn't fit and the provider (that has hundreds of 5-start reviews BTW) is not even answering my emails fit, so it looks like I'll have to resort to disputing the charge in paypal.
