At least once a month we wake up to no internet, which began happening a few months ago. Standard troubleshooting of check diagnostics, turn the modem off and on again etc, and then wait for it to start working again at some point.  When I finally give up and ring support (Telecom), the phone line is dead. After dialling the number on the landline, get a tone of a rapid sequence of half second beeps.

So, ring up Support on the mobile. As part of the support troubleshooting, he rings the landline the check the line is active or something, and the phone then rings with no problem. Then the modem connects, and I look like a fool :)

It's a happened a good ten times in last six months, normally when waking up in the morning. But instead of ringing support, I just ring our landline with a mobile phone, and the phone line 'wakes up' again.

Anyone else ever experience this sort of issue?

Do you have an alarm installed? Even if it isn't monitored they are known to still trying grab the line and "Dial Home", Even something a little as a sky box trying to dial home can disrupt your broadband.

Do you have a master Filter installed? / have had a tech check out your internal wiring as this could be the cause.

First thing to check would be an alarm grabber that's getting stuck.

Thanks.  No sky or no monitored alarm.  Two jackpoints with a line splitter off the first entry into the house, just one phone (panasonic cordless 5Ghz) by the modem.

Fairly average line stats- would be improved with a master filter but can't afford one at the moment:

Upstream
CurrRate(kbps)  989
MaxRate(kbps)  981
NoiseMargin(dB) 13.0
Attenuation(dB) 13.5
Power(dBm)      12.4

Downstream
CurrRate(kbps)  15522
MaxRate(kbps)  18660
NoiseMargin(dB) 12.3
Attenuation(dB)  7.3
Power(dBm)       19.0

Is there an existing alarm that is disabled/not monitored/could be? Even though to you, the alarm you may or may not have is not monitored, it may still be communicating with a security company who is just ignoring it.

...At least that is what I've heard can happen.

Just had exactly the same problem.  Found it was my Uniden cordless phone base that was causing the problem.  Swapped it to a spare one and no more problems.  I was tipped off when I disconnected the faulty one and connected an old fixed wire one and had no further problems.
