Hi. I just checked and fibre is available to my address.

I am currently with slingshot and apart from problems with the line and getting it sorted I have been ok with their service.

I have been looking at slingshot, orcon and snap

What should be the best option to go with.

One thing that leans me toward slingshot is the roll over data and the fact that we have 650GB to use.

Well you need to say what city you live in. Not all UFB providers operate in all cities.

All 3 of those providers say that it is available on their address checker.

Hmm, VF doesn't do Nelson. If i were you i would go for Snap! They have a POP in Wellington so fairly close.

Snap. If they offer services in Nelson then go for it. Speeds are great. They currently have a promo where if you sign up for a 24 month contract you get 100/50 plan for $95/month with 150GB data. You can buy additional data packs if need be.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I'm happy with Snap. Don't cut your own plan until UFB is up and working, it took 4 months for my connection to get installed even though they said it would take 2 weeks - not Snap's fault, it was a Chorus thing.

RAM and ports I think. Look here. I got the 7390 as the cost was minimal on a 24 month plan.

Eek, Fritz Box with Fritz OS6+. Then again its not VDSL so fingers crossed it doesnt have a fit.

Something to remember with Snap is if you have a data pack you get unlimited data between 1 and 7am, so if you do your bulk transfers during that period you may find your regular usage goes down quite a bit.
I'm already a snap customer, and if UFB were available where I live I'd stick with them.

I don't do much downloading. Most of my usage is hulu, twitch, upstream etc.

I think I will give orcon and snap a call tonight.

ild go snap, their support is great and their network is top notch. could not recommend them more to you.

you pay for what you get there, quality.. something in my past experience your other two options did not have when i had them.

as for the fritzboxes

7390 has dualband 5ghz, and a few more pots ports for the most part thats the major difference.

I agree they're good, but for example they had a major failure in Auckland on their UFB network last week, and last night I lost internet for 30 minutes for some reason that wasn't really explained but was common to many users. I still like them, but nop notch networks fail less than that.

every isp has faults.

being that it was about 7 on a Friday night, not surprised it took a little while to put in a temporary fix till they could resolve everything and move connections back.

you lost your internet for a whole 30 mins, does your SLA say it should be less than that?

IMO given that it was such a large fault, they did very well.
