Firstly, I realise there are already a few threads regarding the new fibre plans Chorus has proposed (http://www.chorus.co.nz/chorus-accelerate-delivers-step-change-to-new-zealand-s-broadband-capability), however at the bottom of the page it states;

The company is set to launch the new fibre products on 1 July 2014

Does this mean Chorus will be offering these from tomorrow in parallel to current fibre plans, or will Chorus be switching the old plans to these new plans?

I'd have thought if people were getting switched over tomorrow that everyone would be aware of it. Which brings me to my next point. I haven't seen too much of a response from ISPs with their retail offerings in response to these new plans, which I thought was odd.

Anyone know more about this?

Chorus is a wholesale provider what are you expecting to change tomorrow?

All of a sudden retail plans are changed over night?

If these new plans have been in the works and publicly known about for over 6 months, then having some of the smaller, more responsive ISPs have new plan offerings from day one wouldn't surprise me.

Hmmm. So the current 30/10 plan costs the RSP $37.50 (per month) increasing to $42.50 by 2019.
The new low plan will be 100/20 at $40 increasing at $1 pa. till 2020.

I guess my dream of a free upgrade won't happen, but I would happily pay another $5 for a bandwidth boost.

What I want to know is why my internet costs are going to increase over the next 10 years. (Assuming the ISPs won't swallow the costs. Considering current margins, I'd guess not.) I thought internet prices were supposed to go down... I guess current price points are below actual cost, funded by the government?

HAHA well there was a thread recently where a guy complained of 2D stealing his money. I think the amounts were similar.

Why would you think internet prices were going to go down?

Also, $1 per year increase is pretty close to a simple inflationary increase ($1 on $40 is 2.5%)
