Hey all,

I've just moved into a new place and signed up for 2degrees. The line was connected around an hour ago and I have it plugged in via the supplied DSL-BT cable. Currently the Fritzbox is saying that the DSL has its 'connected interrupted'. Now it looks like there is another jack (it's a DSL jack and don't have a cable/adapter yet) at the front of the house that looks like it may have had some work done to it, ie master filter. I found a manual in the wardrobe for a VDSL modem so I'm probably thinking there is one. Would this be the cause of it and I'll need to plug it into the DSL (possibly master filtered) jack?

When a master filter is installed only the DSL jack point can be used for the internet. It is dedicated for internet use, so regular phones cannot be used with it.

All other jack points are regular phone lines.

short answer: yes

longer answer: if a master filter has been installed you must use the designated ADSL/VDSL socket for your modem. The others won't work for ADSL/VDSL.

Not quite. With a master filter installed, the xDSL will only work on the dedicated jack. A phone will work on any jack including the xDSL jack.

If you (somehow) managed to use a double adapter and plug a modem and phone into the xDSL jack at the same time, you could expect some interference on the phone from the xDSL connection.

All sorted now as expected. I imagine this sort of scenario could cause some really frustrating moments out there
