Hi all,

as you're aware the new regime is now LIVE and we expect to see infringement notices starting to arrive real soon now.

If anyone gets one can I ask you to post the details of what it looks like/what you're going to do so we can all have a look? Feel free to blank out personal ID information.

So far it's all very quiet. A little TOO quiet...

People I know appear to have switched to other means of obtaining the things they were interested in.

They are still getting it. Just not via Bittorrent.

Update: I saw this fly by on Google+ .

It looks like notices are being sent, but if ISPs respond asking for details and payment.....they get no reply (so far..). It may well be that any reply may take weeks.....so it's probably too early to speculate.

US bureaucracy (public or private) can be quite slow....simply because of the scale they operate on.

so.... 100,000 punters download "mission improbable" from rox studios via bittorrent. rox now has a bill for $2.5M to send 1st strike notices out to all these punters. By the time they give the same 100,000 punters their 3rd strike notice for "mission improbably 3", rox has spent $7.5M. The punters lose their internets, what does rox studios get out of it?

I thought I read somewhere that snap has processed a number of notices

If rox studios got to 3 notices then they could get the 3x $25 back + retail cost of the media in question + other fees and a fine as well I think.

what happens if the 100,00 decide to fight it in court, it would be a long wait

You forget that a lot of the punters will stop downloading after the first or second notice so the $25 or $50 can not be recovered from them. If NZ is the same as other countries the punters won't get to a 3rd notice.

What is the period of time that the copyright holder has to supply the above before the infringement is deemed to have "expired"?

Thought I read somewhere 28 days???

Presumably the larger ISPs will operate on some kind of credit though ’30 days’ or something.
