Even the original R1 with a 400Mhz CPU had Gig as I recall.

r2 & UP both 10/100 only. GL, G, Gr3 (G=gigabit) got 10/100/1000

I'm on Spark in Albany, Auckland and have received the increase. Just started a backup and yes that is a lot quicker. I moved to the new 100/20 plan last month and got rid of the landline so not only a speed increase but a very good saving each month as well. Thank you very much Spark.

Strange, I asked Spark (via Facebook Messenger) if they were doing 300/100 and they told me no, only what's on the website. How did you get it?

Seriously considering dropping back to this from 950/500 because I so seldom use it to the max because both consoles seem to lack the CDN to go much over 300 on downloads. $20 isnt much but its still $20...

The Spark web site is now stating for their Essential Fibre plan: "102Mbps or 300Mbps Download 22Mbps or 100Mbps Upload Average speeds for Fibre100 broadband in NZ, at busiest times.", which seems a fairly convoluted way of saying that depending on where the rollout is up to, you'll get one or the other right now.

Nice one, Orcon/Chorus. 310/108 and even 216/94 over wifi!

Okay, I see it now. $15 less! A Gb is nice but probably a waste at my place given my usage. I'll see about putting an order through to change to 300, although it seems interesting you can't select if you want 300 or 100?

@quickymart that's because 100 and 300 are the same plan - that's what the whole thread is about. If you live in a Chorus area, you get 300, otherwise it's 100.

Enable are also hoping it to 300/100, there's another thread about that upgrade so hopefully spark pass that one through as well for Christchurch.

I have just put a query to NorthPower that run the Fibre network in Northland / Kaipara asking if they have any planned speed upgrades to 100/20

Does anyone know the underlying Chorus profile/plan that the BigPipe 100/100 uses? Not sure if it's technically the Business Evolve, or Small Business Fibre, or if it's a different profile that isn't being upgraded? If that is the case, there is now zero point for that plan at all, otherwise getting 300/300 or 500/500 would be all good. :)

Spark have updated their fibre product page to say 102Mbps or 300Mbps Download 22Mbps or 100Mbps Upload. How do you know which one you are gonna get before committing?

Don't really want to go from 900/500 to 100/20 by accident.

The reason the Spark website is a little ambiguous about this is because it is LFC dependent as to what set of speeds you'll get (100/20 vs 300/100).  Not all of the LFCs are making changes at precisely the same time or in the same manner.  PM me your address and I can let you know which set of speeds you'll get.

Ordered on the 22nd and connected on the 24th, am indeed getting 300/100 in Orewa (Auckland). Thanks for looking that up cbrpilot.

They must have tweaked the wording? Seems OK to me. It's a tricky thing to get across without over complicating it.

Weird, I seem to be on 100/100 now? My order with Spark is still in progress however.

quickymart - that may be because there is some part of your network that is not Gigabyte capable. The older standard was 10/100 so the upgrade gives you 100/100 because some part of your network is limiting the speed to 100.

This was what happened for to me. In process of upgrading a router to fix this.
