freitasm: I just looked around and I wonder if some of these discussions shouldn't be in their own topics as they're individual problems/configurations and not general VDSL Performance and Tuning tips and tricks.

SamF: So... I had a power outage last night and this morning I noticed that my SNRM was 3dB lower than I had set it! I recall that someone else (SteveHodge I think) had this happen to them just before they were put on 17a!
SamF:
Unfortunately my error rate was 8 CRCPM so I had to change my SNRM tweak. I set it back to stock and did a 5min restart, but alas, the 3dB drop was gone :(
I've been running a -4ish SNRM tweak for a while, then I went to +10, then back to stock (0), then back to -4 for a few days, and then I had the power outage, after which the additional -3db was observed. I've seen SNRM naturally fluctuate by 1 and sometimes 2, but never 3.
I think there may be factors other than just attenuation which are considered for 17a selection:
- Error rate (<2?)
- DLM profile (DLM-1?)
- Sync rate (maybe it has to be above 50mbit?)
Can those of you on 17a recall what your conditions were leading up to your 17a swap?
I might just run at stock again for a while and see what happens.
SamF: Did it recover again to 12 without a reboot? I don't think that crosstalk was the cause of my SNRM drop as it gained 3dB instantly after a reboot.

It recovered to 10 (which was the target I had set) without a reboot, that was just the normal DLM resync. It went back to 12 after I removed the -2 db tweak. I did reboot when I did that.
