Detruire: It may be worth checking the Chorus site from time to time, too. They dug up half our street in Oct/Nov last year, the site said "available" two weeks ago, and I haven't seen the mailer yet.

I didn't get anything in the mail until about a month after I'd had everything connected. Definitely check the Chorus site!

Some ISPs allow you to "pre-register" an address; my street went live a week or two before the map was updated so I was able to get my order in nice and early :)

To be fair, the Wellington region will take just as long by virtue of how big they both are.

Does Spark address lookup come from Chorus??  When I enter my home address in the Spark address lookup  I get "Looks like there's a problem with the address checker. Please try again later."  Doing the same  on the Chorus look up  just gives nothing apart from a drop down that says  "Please select an address" and there's no addresses listed.  Been like that for over a week now..

Regards,

Old3eyes

Chorus has quite a few different set of data. One on their public map, one on their private map, one in the ordering portal, one bulk list for ISPs, etc. Don't expect these datasets to match up.

The web page https://www.chorus.co.nz/broadband-options/for-business/broadband-map which was cool for finding when UFB was going to be available around NZ is suddenly saying it requires a login to access it.

@InstallerUFB @chorusnz what's going on guys?

What a nuisance. The "new improved" map was actually a step backwards, IMO.

I totally agree when it comes to people like ourselves; however for the masses who don't need/want all the info it is a improvement

Yes but even the masses would like a map that actually works and shows information

It seems to be a trend to take websites that sort of worked ( ie ugly as sin and colours all the same to confuse the punters )

and "Improve" them by making them apeal to the marketing department but best of luck actually getting information from them

Chorus, Spark AND Vodafone should be ashamed to be putting such substandard websites up

The new map is only good if you want to be nosy and see how fast the neighbours internet is. The ISP door to door sales people must love it as well. As they can see which houses to target with fibre sign up offers.

I feel sorry for everyone in my area. I have no idea how they can cope with their 15Mbit ADSL whilst I am here on 200/200Mbit UFB. My Neighbors directly next door to me sync at 9Mbit even though they're in a UFB area. And yet, they're often the complainers of NZ having "third world internet".

So yes - the Chorus maps are excellent for spying on neighbors.

Seems to be working again now.

Note to Chorus: both address checkers are very useful and don't fully overlap in functionality. Please don't remove the "for business" one!
