In an effort to save a bit of money, we have made the switch to the cheapest One plan. We were paying $105 with Spark including Netflix. Now on the $65 One NZ plan and will drop Netflix. So far I haven't really noticed the drop in speed from 300MBps and just checked, we are only on 50Mbps so we haven't even been upgraded to 100 yet. For reference, we are a household of 4. We all stream Youtube etc on our tablets and TV and sometimes all 4 of us are watching something different at once. I feel that 100Mbps will be more than enough for us. Hopefully we will get the 100 upgrade soon.

^^Yeah most households will not need more than 100/20 so its fantastic value.

Not sure what your mobile usage is, but Spark now have a $95 unlimited plan which includes Netflix, if there are 2 of you on there you're essentially paying $57 each for unlimited data (once you remove the Netflix value add).

Edit: 100/20 would be dine for 99% of households too - I just moved to One's plan as well!

Finally got an email from 2d about the uplift, with a nice little price increase to go along with it...

Hi there,

We’re getting in touch to let you know about some changes to your 2degrees broadband plan.

From 8 August 2025, the price of your 2degrees broadband plan will increase by $4.00 per month.

Your fibre broadband speeds have also been boosted to help you do more of what you love online. Your connection should now be capable of estimated average busy time speeds* of 500Mbps download and 100Mbps upload. Your new plan has not been tested by the Measuring Broadband New Zealand (MBNZ) study. Once your plan has been tested by MBNZ we will publish the actual average speeds.

You don’t need to do anything to get the speed boost, but please note not all devices (especially if they’re a bit older or you’re using Wi-Fi) will support the full upgraded speed.

For more on your speed boost, check out our FAQs.

This change won’t affect any offers or discounts you have with us, which will continue until they’re due to end.

Why is my price going up?

We know price increases can be hard, and we do our best to keep them to a minimum. Like other broadband providers, a key component of our costs includes charges we pay to Chorus and local fibre companies to connect to the fibre network, which increase every year. To continue keeping you connected to the stuff you love, we need to adjust prices.

What are my options?

Stay on your current plan

If you stay on your current plan you don’t need to do a thing unless you’ve set up an automatic payment directly from your bank account. You’ll need to update your payment amount by 8 August 2025 to avoid any billing issues. If you have a direct debit or credit card payment method set up on your account, then there’s nothing you need to do. We’ll make the change on our end.

Move to a different plan

Depending on how much data you use, the size of your household, and what you use your broadband for, you may be able to change to Wireless Broadband without paying an early termination fee if it’s available at your address.

You’ll find our latest Wireless Broadband plans here. To change to another plan, you can either do it online or get in touch.

You can learn about the different kinds of broadband here.

Cancel your plan

We’d be sad to see you go, but if you decide that you want to cancel your broadband plan because of the price increase, just let us know within 30 days of this email and we won’t charge you any early termination fees – but we really hope you’ll stick around! If your modem is rented from us, you’ll still need to return it or charges may apply. Jump online to find out how to cancel your plan.

Need help?

If you have questions or need help with your options, jump over to our FAQs.

Thanks,
The team at 2degrees

*The Fibre Starter or Unlimited speeds shown above are estimated national peak time average speeds until we have Commerce Commission’s Measuring Broadband New Zealand results. The speed you experience at any time given may be higher or lower than these averages and depends on factors including the performance of your modem, location of the server, your computer / phone and how your WiFi has been set up.

This email is sent from an account we use for sending messages only. Please don't reply to this email – we won't get your response. If you want to contact us, visit the contact us page on our website.

Same with Slingshot (2degrees)

Hi there,

We’re getting in touch to let you know about some changes to your Slingshot broadband plan.

From 6 August 2025, the price of your Slingshot broadband plan will increase by $3.00 per month.

I’m trying to decide to go with One for 65$ plus 300$ in One wallet or simplybroadband for 60$.

Any reason to go for one or the other?

Isn't the One Wallet thing only for purchasing new mobile phones (not broadband plans)?

I had a closer look and it’s quite restricted… you can use the wallet to purchase a phone if you have a mobile plan… and I just use prepay so I’ll go with simplybroadband.

Well see that's just cheeky!

You get a significantly faster service for $4 more per month - I'm on a gig plan (950/450) and they've told me my price is going up by a whopping $10 per month and nothing changes.

I think still an OK deal - as the $110 per month includes a static IP, but 2.5x the price increase is a bit rough. Not sure if there are better options out there...

Are you sure its $10? Because on the pricing page of their website it states:

Ultimate Unlimited is their 900/500 plan.

Letter is pretty clear:

We wanted to let you know that from 15 August 2025, the price of your 2degrees broadband plan will increase by $10.00 per month.

I have dropped a message to the support email with a "please explain".

My static IP is $0 per month as it was grandfathered across from MyRepublic....maybe they're thinking that they can charge me an extra $6 a month now and pretend that it is part of the Chorus price increase?

Even at $110 a month though I'm not sure there is a better deal out there....unless anyone else knows of a plan where you can get ~1G, unlimited data, and fixed IP for about $100/mth (even if getting fixed IP is a one-off charge).

Also, if there are any retired folk here on 2D, they have some extra discounts for Supergold card people.
