Anyone know how fast DLM should be killing it? I haven't seen any DLM changes yet - still on DLM-1 - and currently running @9dB with 46 CRCPM.

Dlm seems to get slower to push profiles as it learns your line. I suppose it just hasn't made up it'd mind, or dlm is acting up again. I'm sure ul be shoved back at some point.

Running the new firmware though aren't you, noticed my dlm changed slowed down with it . Could just be the line getting older and such though.

Dlm really doesn't like 10~ + errors .. ay dlm-1 so rather surprising.. the wonder that is dlm I suppose?

So, I just checked my fritz!box for a connection update. Unfortunately I haven't had a drop in latency, but I have had a mad speed increase.

Do note I did give it a restart and tripple checked all connections because someone pulled out the cable for the modem... I found a loose cable anyway haha

So should i wait after the ten day dlm test phase to lower my snr for some increased throughput ? As long as the ping doesn't go over 90 i will lower snr

your ping to where? if its simply to nz hosts, then you may aswell go the full hog and get yourself on a 16ms latency profile (lawl...)

depends on what your line stats are as to if you should tweak or not, error rates etc. look at that all before considering tweaking that much..

thing to note about snr tweaking, your error rates go up very rapidly.. to quote the first post..

and thats with a line that is practically error-less at the start.

clearly by your past posts, your looking to download as much as you can, ild take a pretty good guess that your not sourcing files from local servers, so you need to consider what TCP latency do to your speed. its all good to have a beastly fast sync speed, but if you cant actually ramp up the speed at all, its kinda a waste aint it (this is under the assumption of default window sizes though.)

I just want 2 or 3 Mb more maybe 4 . I usually play Bf3 with 60 to 80 ping as long as i stay under 100 ping i wont get kicked for high ping i play on australian bf3 servers. So if i tweak a little bit my ping wont go crazy high will it ? i only want a few extra Mb

you might wanna avoid that 16ms profile, that is 16ms each way, 32ms in total added.. depending on how sensitive to it you are, you may not want very many errors.. i can feel the difference between 1ms with errors and 8ms without, it isnt big, but its somewhat noticeable..

you only want a few mbit for what? your already moving from adsl1 to vdsl.. that should be enough of a jump for you im sure.. i personally wouldnt tweak unless your trying to avoid hitting the 1ms profile (in the case the error rate is to high anyway) or you have a very clean line at 1ms and have the space for that leway..

sorry for the triple post that's geekzones fault .

post stats at some point, and you weld be able to tell you if tweaking is worth it.. you cant be all that far from the exchange to be on vdsl ;)

My suggestion would be wait longer than just the initial 10 day training period. Once your initial training period is up, give it another couple of weeks just to let things settle. Then look at the latency to your BF3 servers and your CRCPM error rates and decide how to proceed. My suggestion would be:

If CRCPM is relatively low (say under 2) and your latency to your BF3 servers would still be OK with an extra 16ms (going 1ms -> 8ms profile will add the same as 8 -> 16) then tweak it slowly while keeping on eye on the CRCPM. Also try not to do many restarts\resyncs while tweaking.

Oh yeah i have telecom vdsl2 modem it just has a few firewall errors but it doesn't have a graph like fritzbox how do i tell how many errors i get ?

laugh? vdsl is vdsl, your connection may not ramp up too high in the period, it might even just have some sort of interference... which could be dealt with. you still should be bettering adsl, so be happy with it.
