That would work and all, but it would also give grounds for cpe arguments. Which are visionstreams favorite.

I certainly considered it... Or an accidental snip of a wire so they had to fix things. Still that goes in the basket with tractoring conklins in the hope of an upgrade basket ..

End of the day, going 17a is a bigger concern for me, wish it was a case of flicking a switch.

I can post graphs when I get home, but it's interesting .. 8am till 8pm I average 11 db snr, otherwise, 12.

Looking at graphing that, then going from there ... As a dodgy joint possibility with the temperatures.

May need to prod the likes of runningman for a bit more information on this for arguing purposes though.

so, forced a resync last night..

looks like the error rate has dipped right down, but then i question if what im actually seeing here is a move to DLM-4..

also back down to 4db attenuation.. from the 6db it keeps jumping up to..

so, anyone who wants to attempt this, take care.. you can break things...

could say this was a bit of a hack to get working perfectly though..

you need to do everything via telnet..

cd /var/ && wget http://hio77.com/fritz/calllog
cd /var/media/ftp/ && wget http://hio77.com/fritz/gntp-send
chmod +x gntp-send

you will need to edit the ip in the calllog script..

have a play if you wish.. as far as im aware, you will need to move the file to the flash to save it over reboots. im yet to test that (who wants to reboot their fritz very oftern?)

So after 9 days of the most stable line I've ever had, i got a resync. Since then I've had huge errors and it's even resynced again because the line got so bad. Sadly if this keeps up I'll lose my DLM-1

mhm, i question if your issue is temperature/weather related.. without knowning the weather where you are, im seeing the same sorts of patterns in your connection that im noticing in mine..

this is simply a random thought though..

Oh i've believed for a while that the weather greatly affects my line.

The wind in Wellington was definitely affecting my line stability and stats. I diagnosed this using a cordless phone plugged onto the line and traced it back to the chorus grey post thing outside my house listening for crackling noise when movement occured. It took a bit of convincing but Snap got Chorus to come and fix a loose connection in the grey post and hey presto much better line stats and stability. I have a the before and after stats pic from the fritz which shows the effect of the line fix.

loosing SNRM and re-syncs occasionally are classic symptoms of a loose connection in my experience.

That might have been me.

Was stuck on DLM-7 for ages, redid my internal wiring to try to improve, asked for a DLM reset and quickly went to DLM-8. I was getting zero CRC errors but FEC errors sometimes into the million per 15min.

However I was never getting disconnects or spontaneous resyncs, just crazy high latency and 5 Mb/s less that I should have been getting.

Snap tested Fritz and found no problem. Chorus tested line and said it was fine, however Snap disagreed with their findings. They were goiung to dispute it with Snap, but suggested I downgrade to .22 first.

Being a bit lazy I hadn't gotten arround to downgrading and one afternoon my CRCs went through the roof, router spontaneously resynced, and then my FECs were down into normal levels and CRCs were gone.

After the FEC errors had remained stabled for a couple of days I asked for a DLM reset and have been on DLM-1 ever since.

I really don't know what changed, as it came right at least a week after the last time I had spoken with Snap. My guess is either Snap followed up with Chorus and something was done at the cabinet, or Chorus was doing something else in the cabinet that just happened to sort my problem.

This is where I am sitting now with 11 days sync last resync:

I'm getting CRC errors now which I never got on the higher DLM profiles, but I assume that normal because of the lack of intyerleaving and INP. However they are sitting stable at 2/min, so I'm happy with that.

Not sure what sort of cable I have coming into the property, it's an overhead line that externally looks like two black cables twisted around each other.

I don't know that any of this has been helpful to you, but what I took from it is just because Chorus say the line is fine, doesn't necessarily make it so!

oh, i know its not fine, but its to the point where i have been having techs out, almost every day, sometimes two times a day even!

ima be calling snap tonight, maybe tomorrow considering i have a assignment to hand in, get them to question chorus..

pretty clear, DLM wasnt reset on my line like the say it was - a VERY common occurrence im dealing with is lies from techs..

that is why im giving up on it..

cable into my place is a normal 049 cable, was *apparently* repaired, but once again, no record of this work. and im confident in myself, that i would have noticed my connection dropping while a cable was being repaired.. or noise in the line while they were messing with it.

the fact that really rides on me though, both snap AND chorus have agreed there is a problem in the line, but chorus have ruled it not worth looking into due to lack of errored seconds..

im still convinced my issue is a dodgy joint/connection alone the way, possible temperature related..

this trend is pretty regular, hot days, code days, tends to reverse it.. FECs also have a bit of a tend like this, but rather hard to graph accurately..

just need to find the correct route to get things sorted.. hopefully were the same supervisor doesnt come out again (all hes interested in is sync speeds and wasnt willing to discuss it at all - i think i may have upset him a tad.. AH well.)

Yes, it's normal. Even very good lines usually have some errors on DLM-1. My line has never really shown errors on any of the the higher levels but is currently sitting on 2/min. I think that rate is fine.

Not complaining, my line is stable on DLM-1 at 46Mb/s with no tweaking. But am curious if anyone knows what would cause my SNR to often sit down at 10?

That's normal line condition fluctuations, happens to the best of lines.
