7390 should have gigabit Ethernet, although it probably won't be able to route gigabit, those speeds look exactly like you have a link somewhere only negotiating 100mbps. Even on the 100/20 plan you should consistently get just over 100mbps download - weird that you were seeing 100/10 (or I'm assuming 93/10) before the upgrade.

Yep it seems like thats it. I can transfer files between my PC and NAS fine at gigabit speeds (both go through a switch), but anything from the switch to the internet via 7390 seems to be capped at 100. Even in the Fritz Box settings view, LAN between it and the switch shows 100Mbit even though the port is set for 1Gbit. Yes previous was roughly 93/10. So you are correct that it cannot route gigabit by the looks of it

Replace the patch lead between switch and router.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Is it a 7390 from say Snap/2Degrees? Then likely this setting won't be updating if you are on another provider.

Account Information - Internet Connection - Make sure Connection Settings are at least 1000 Mbit/s Down/Up specified.

Home Network - Network Settings - LAN Settings - make sure they aren't on green mode / power mode - especially the WAN port used.

If these are fine replace the cable - should at least be 1Gb connectivity between Fritz and ONT?

You can see this on the ONT too visually:

LAN Port LED
Orange - There is a 1Gbps device detected on the Port
Orange Flashing - There is 1Gbps data activity detected on the Port
Green - There is a 10/100Mbps device detected on the Port
Green Flashing - There is 10/100Mbps data activity detected on the Port

From what I can see on my 7490 - although would recommend picking up a 7490 for cheap.

Press release:

Chorus' largest-ever performance upgrade for New Zealand fibre customers is now complete. Residential customers on the wholesaler's 100 Mbps fibre plan can now access triple the download speed from available retailers while increasing the upload speed five-fold from 20 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

This big fibre boost is expected to catapult New Zealand up the world's broadband rankings as customers take advantage of the upgrade through their retailer. Chorus projections show the country could move into the global top ten for the fastest broadband by early 2022. In October, New Zealand sat at 24th position, above the UK at 50th and Australia at 54th.

Kiwi businesses have also benefited with 'Business Evolve' 100/100 Mbps plans and 'Small Business Fibre' 100/100 Mbps plans moving to download and upload speeds of 300/300 Mbps and 500/500 Mbps, respectively.

Commenting on the successful completion of the fibre upgrade, Chorus CEO JB Rousselot said, "We’ve been ten years building our share of the fibre network and we’re nearly done. When we finish, New Zealand will have one of the most extensive fibre networks in the world.

“This performance upgrade builds on our purpose to ensure that New Zealanders have access to the best internet connectivity. Once adopted, New Zealand should achieve an impressive ranking for fixed broadband connectivity, and we expect to realise this early in the new year, once all retailers have been able to make the performance improvement available to their customers."

As technology evolves rapidly, Chorus is committed to making sure that Kiwis continue to reap the benefit of fast connectivity.

"This is just the beginning of what fibre can do - the capacity and speeds are virtually limitless, and we intend to roll out further upgrades and options at a wholesale level," continued Rousselot.

More than two-thirds of Kiwi households have connected to fibre, with the figure even higher in Auckland at 76 per cent. Twenty-two per cent of Chorus' fibre connections are now gigabit services.

Anyone else seeing their Gigabit connection downgraded to 300/100 overnight.

Just ran some tests this morning and it looks like my Orcon / Chorus connection has been impacted.

Cant justify why getting same speeds as yours when I;ve been using Slingshot Gigantic plan 900mb down/450mb up... May aswell save the $15 extra cost. Never been able go faer than 350mb...

Wonder if others thinking drop the extra charge?

Any changes to us stragglers still on 100/100 via BigPipe? I'm late to the party and apologise if this has already been answered in the preceding 17 pages... My OCD would rather I stay on 100/100 than get a weirdo asymmetric connection....

Chatted with BigPipe earlier to say if the $79 and $89 plans are the same cost, can I downgrade to the $79 plan to save the $ assuming its not a misprint.

She said "i highly recommend you do, you wouldn't be the first person to ask me this today"

Nice.

Yep it is from Snap days, running it on Bigpipe. Have tried all those steps, even changed cable between Switch and Fritzbox. ONT LED is Green flashing (connected via original yellow cable, I think its gigabit) so I feel like its definitely the Fritzbox but I will play around a bit more this weekend. Thanks for the help so far folks! (I know kinda hijacking haha)

Got a laptop you can just connect into the ONT to see it connects at 1Gb then to the Fritz. Could be a faulty port too on either end.

Quite cool … I’m with Spark in central Wellington and haven’t experienced the change yet but suspect it’s still being rolled out.

After seeing Mauricio’s post with the press release I tested.

Showing the increase on Spark in West Auckland.

It was common for the patch leads supplied with some routers to only have 2 pairs terminated, i.e., they do not support gigabit.

Hmm so tried a few things today based on your guys suggestions.

- connected PC directly to ONT. Only negotiates at 100mbps in the Connection Settings status. Speedtest the same

- PC directly to Fritzbox (skipping switch) also 100mbps trying to transfer files from my NAS to PC

- Double checked the same cable so connected it PC directly to the switch, skipping Fritzbox and tried transfer again, back to gigabit so the cable is not an issue.

Maybe its a mixture of both ONT and Fritzbox not supporting gigabit

You should at least be connecting 1Gb from your PC at least on the ONT or even on the Fritz. You really need to try a cable or one that supports 1Gb - assuming the PC supports 1Gb too.
