hio77: not uncommon for slightly different sync rates between devices ...

netcomm, i suspect this is the new modem slingshot is rolling for vdsl?

is that a 17a profile? at your attenuation, seems a pretty decent sync rate

Actually, it isn't a 17a profile.... It's 8b.... Also not a modem slingshot is rolling out for VDSL, it's a modem we got from our supplier that has litterally JUST launched, there isn't any information online except the threads I've made so far lol

you must have some real clean copper on your link then.. surprised at that sync rate with your distance on 8b.

i know netcomm modems at least used to roll from slingshot, since they are "getting in" a new modem too, figured it was worth an ask.

quite a decent sounding feature set on this one.

Thanks for the reply. Sure I can do that. Is that attenuation change normal?
Also any changes now will have to wait for morning. My hubby gets grumpy if I kick him offline while he's home, grin. I'll give it a go while he's at work.

Yes, see my revised post above. You are a good quick responder and I've become a slow typewriter due to illness. :)

ah you edited the post a page back.

mind posting screenshots of the errors or make them a little more clear? cant really comment on them.

the move from adsl to vdsl, you will increase in attenuation, this is due to the fact that the higher frequencies inwhich vdsl use, attenuate quicker.

Quote from waaaay up thread "stevehodge:
mikenzb: By the way I had a quick question, Can someone explain why my Send Direction Line attenuation is 102? I see others in this thread also have 102 on the Send Direction Line attenuation as well.

It's a bug. The previous version of the firmware didn't display anything at all, now there is a number but it's clearly incorrect." Unquote.

Ohhhh, that explains the weird send direction line attenuation of 102 I was asking about! One mystery solved.

I've been reading through the thread. Lots of drama, bit like a novel!

send direction attenuation doesn't particularly matter. often it will show as a dash.

@Dairusire: If I'm reading your stats correctly you were getting around 1500 CRCs in an hour which is very high!

I unplugged Fritz for over 5 min and plugged him into the wall socket instead of the power bar and crc errors are now acceptable, allaying my concerns. I still think my line attenuation is a bit high (13 when Chorus said it was 5 to 6 on the test to see if I could get VDSL) but I'm willing to see what the dlm does over the next week. :)

@JayADee: Got some screenshots to post? That way we can check out your line in more detail. We need the DSL, Statistics and Spectrum tabs.
