hio77: 20 attenuation :/ thats gonna be a little borderline.

whats your spectrum like?

error wise, you look good, probably next few days, you should hit DLM-1

i suspect your resync will have been a move from DLM-4 to DLM-2, take note of the footnote "*9 Note that on the Fritz, this may show as INP: 0 rather than 1. This appears to be a bug in the firmware"

Attenuation was actually at 14 before the splitter got put on the main phone line in.

14, on vdsl? or when you were still on adsl? if vdsl, you have a fault to deal with.

your line doesn't look too pretty, clearly looks like loss over distance as expected - however ild expect a little spike after the adsl range due to lack of cross talk before tailing off.

sorry was 12 and yes that was on adsl.  Before we switched over to vdsl snap said that after they ran tests that judging by what we were synching at on adsl( around 16k to 17k) we should at least be synching around 30k on vdsl.  So does that mean were to far away to get better speeds or out wiring might not be good, house is kinda old.

vdsl attenuates faster at higher frequencies, and thus your line attenuation will be higher.

for 12 attenuation, i would have expected something around 16~18, so 20 doesn't seem too out of character. ild look at the likes of stevehodge for a more definite number though. (remembering, if that wasnt with the fritz, different modems can show different attenuations. )

the numbers snap will have went off, would have been your prequal, in which are calculations that were made when the cabinet was installed for the most part, while reasonably accurate, there is room for error.

end of the day, if it doesnt boost up a bit, if you stick with that headroom in your CRC errors, you can SNR tweak, and push it up a tad.

Well it only took about 1 month but this morning I got a resnyc, went from dlm 3 to dlm 6, slowly making my way up the dlm line. altho I lost 5 mbit/s from the INP getting turned on again.... ahh.....

So we had a profile change i think. Latency is now at 1ms, INP still at 0. Line attenuation went down to 19 now

quite a wait.. im sure glad i got my DLM reset to get it back down to DLM-1..

your attenuations probably like 19.5, you can get an exact figure from telnet if you wish.

you are now at DLM-1

So does speed change straight away or is that something that changes after DLM sees if the profile is stable for your line?

DLM has some control over it. DLM doesnt only move profiles, there are also hidden little moves it can make.

take mine for example, i was getting 47M syncs till i reset my DLM, im now at 37M after resetting the DLM process as it hasnt pushed it back up.

Will get a DLM reset help in my case? or should I just leave it alone for awhile more? Still trying to get it back up to DLM 1.

if you're eager to get to DLM-1, i would.. i gave mine a few weeks after i went to DLM-2 to go back down, but it never made the move..

just be ready for DLM to sap away your speed - something i didnt quite expect not to return with DLM-1.

It usually takes a least a month for me to get back to DLM-1 after being downgraded. But I don't bother getting reset because the latency isn't that important to me.

Yup It also took me a month to get off the 16ms profile but I'm still hoping to get back on DLM 1 sooner.

Sent a email to snap asking for a profile reset so we'll see how it goes.

So Got my DLM Reset this morning, Back to DLM 2 Yay, Now If I give this a month I should hopefully get back to DLM 1.

Lost my 0 line attenuation but I wouldn't call that the end of the world as again from my past experience it comes and goes.

I think a DLM reset puts it back in training mode so it should change in a few days.

Well, this is interesting.... You guys remember how I posted a while ago with that new Netcomm router... Seemed to have been having quite a few errors and that jazz, well good news I guess, had actually a resync about 2 days ago, have gone onto DLM1 and no have zilch errors (absolutely none for CRC (RS uncorrectable) 0.o) and still sync'ed up at nutty speeds :D
