Nah, their attenuation is 1. Its not more than this, because well the cabinet is litterally on their front lawn and their pair runs directly from the cabinet to their comms room lol

SamF: We've seen people go straight onto 17a before, and this appears to be a very good line, so it's not unheard of.

yes, i tried the beta for it from snap.

my fritz crashed 3 times in 30 mins. it was also a huge step back in UI information (error rates are mostly not shown now.)

my response to snap was, this firmware is a huge step backwards, is not worth using at all. the UI errors rates being removed is a huge step backwards.

was told that would be communicated back to AVM, not sure if it has been changed.

I see fritzbox has version 6 coming out soon..

The germans already have version 6, but I think they are on Annex J

A few days since i last posted. I've had a few profile changes and am currently on DLM1. Our sync rate actually went down after moving up profile, went from 20k to 19k. Just quick question about the sync speeds we haven't gone over 20k sync rate since going onto VDSL, would that mean that is all the line can do?.

After reading above about chorus not installing things right just had a question about my install. All we had installed was a splitter on the main entry phone line and our fritz box is plugged in to a phone jack in the other end of the house, is this setup correct?

Ok, another small update from me, had Chorus (a different tech) out again who pretty much said the same thing.
They were unwilling to run cable, although this time, the reason was given as being too difficult due to placement of the jack and proximity to the soffit of the house as well as not having the tools to do so.
So going to get a sparky out to get it done no arguments.

Also, something interesting to note, after reorganising my cables, I realised the DSL socket on the Fritz was indeed RJ45, in my rush to plug it in I just used a normal BT - RJ11 cable.
So in excitement rushed around and re-plugged with correct cable thinking 'Here's my issue!', it wasn't, although my carrier record now reports A43.

carrier change is interesting with the change of cable, i suspect not the cable responsable for it however.

fritzbox comes with a metal crimped rj45 destined to be plugged into the rj45 if im not mistaken.

good to hear a proper reason for not running the cable, up to you to decide if its a copout or a real professional opinion ;)

gratz!

im starting to think DLM isnt too keen on increasing my downstream sync rates :/ might have to start looking at SNR tweaking. missing that 5.5MB/s i was hitting..

DLM resync time has passed for the night, time for a nap i suppose.. lol

unlikely. the way i understand it, takes a special DSLAM.

chorus arent going to upgrade their DSLAMs simply to enable vectoring, something new to support. its all about the UFB now.

AFAIK vectoring only works up to 1-200m as well, so even less reason for them to do it.
