We're certainly aware of the problem and it is an issue we are working on.

Unfortunately GUI changes need new firmware (we cant modify the GUI permissions via TR069 or config).

I will, personally, assist anyone who wants to change those values.

Can you please PM me, I'm really trying to like this box and part of that is forcing myself to use it rather than just giving up and switching to an external device but this excessive lock down is really not awesome. An example is I have an IPv6 /56 routed to it but the box will chose a random /64 out of this on each boot which is useless for servers. Normally you just manually set your chosen /64 and you are good to go but in this case that's just greyed out.

You can't even set the IP of the ethernet, that's not really acceptable.

If the LAN setting can be changed, is it possible to change the route/bridge mode through the GUI?
Please PM me.

No sorry, Routed/Bridge is an RSP decision for each order.

Apparently, no I can't PM you :) I guess your settings might not allow it? I don't see the "email" option on your posts.
If you can PM me the serial number on the base of your ONT and which settings you would like changed - I'll see what I can do.

Correct. If someone sets "Privacy" then it goes both ways - won't receive PMs but won't be able to send either.

Is it possible to have it terminated direct to my UniFi UXG-PRO via SFP+ or does it need to go to the ONT first?

I would prefer it to plug directly into the UXG if possible.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

ONT terminates the XGS-PON, then you can connect your router off the 10GBASET port on the ONT. Alternatively the ONT can work as a router/gateway. No you can't terminate the XGS-PON into your Unify directly.

Extremely likely that will be bundled into a product. Just like the normal gpon sfp ont.

The issue with this is heat/power requirements of the SFP+ and will the customer device be able to support it. It took a very long time for 10GBASET sfp+ to become available for this very reason (they get very hot!). Its not uncommon for 10BASET to only be supported in adequately spaced ports for example. With the Network supplied ONT this is all engineered in, but inserting this into random customer equipment is another story all together for little return.

any decent vendor should have accounted for that in their design... but i understand the concern, especially if the customer device is some generic one from aliexpress or elsewhere.

SFP+ was originally designed for lower power optical transcievers, the 10gbaset ones came much later. Even then there is little reason to be using them in those slots. Why spec power supplies etc out to fill every slot with those when most people will never use them?
