Shouldn't be, but it is. Central splitter + dedicated cat5 to the modem installed by Chorus.

what an insane sync rate too, not really gonna get any closer to 70/10 with that!

Somewhat ironic as I'll be getting a 'test' UFB connection put in shortly. Cabinet is at the end of my driveway,  think I should log a ticket asking them to find my missing 0.007mbps sync rate :p

Hi guys! Just a quick question. Got VDSL installed not to long ago, waited for the 10 day period.
Playing around with it now.. If I remove the master splitter and just hard wire into the modem I get a attenuation of 9db. with the filter its 11db.

I don't have any phones to install. So should I just keep it hardwired ? I know the filter will "clean up" the line but the SNR and sync rate stays the same just attenuation is effected.

sounds like a defected filter.

a clean cat5 from the ETP to the single socket will certainly count out any harm of a defective part or inflictions from other jackpoints.

lack of a filter will not do any harm. chorus like to know its there to be able to say yes the line should be perfect persay.

hio77: yes, it is. the underuse of the upload spectrum is a topic thats been bought up here a few times..

moreso with 17a, since it adds two upload bands.

Interesting! What's the highest possible attainable upload speed?

100mb down and 50 up on 17a, but Chorus have artificially limited it to a max of 70mb down and 10 up.

10mbit. 10360Kbit to be exact.

take a look at your Max. DSLAM throughput values if your modem shows them.

Made a few changes, swapped to a telecom business router (dont ask why i have it) and also installed a brand new ETP with filter and Cat5 to jack.
