A client of mine uses them for a VDSL connection. They had issues doing a port forward and so called me in and i discovered they are doing some sort of 1:1 NAT at their gateway. Cant remember their name exactly pretty sure its called Fresh - its a small company thats just started up, probably just a reseller.
Taylor Communications used to NAT but we are in the process of giving each subscriber a public ip address. Because we manage the customers router, we are enabling UPNP and setting up a DMZ as we issue a public ip to each subscriber.
However we arent telling people yet - we need to reserve the ability to charge for a public ip as v4 blocks cost alot, and most of our customers dont need it. The main reason we are rolling them out for free is because we have to pay to have the block, and it helps torrents and games work until ipv6 gains more presence.
Our plan is to issue everyone a public ip, and then roll back to natting once our pool starts running out . As an IT tech for a number of clients who dont putchase their internet service through us, we dont mind any isp natting - so long as the customer can get a public IP if they need one.
