As an update, had support on the phone regarding our fibre.  Plugged in laptop with ethernet cable and got similar rates to the phone/ipad wifi at around 14mbs down and 9mbs up.  They said that for a 30/10 connection they would expect you to get at least 80% of those speeds - so 24/8.  So the up connection is looking pretty good but the down isnt.

They have since followed up and said they still have something to do at their end for the transition to be fully complete which will fix the download issue.

Will let you know how it turns out.

Mike.

I presume they will not start to charge you until the service is working?

HowickDota: I'd be quite pleased to have a consistent 65mbps speed from my N router

If you've got good gear this is easily done.

In this case however the 65Mbps is simply the PHY speed (MCS7) - which is the maximum PHY speed of a single stream AP. Physical connection speeds mean very little in the real world!

mpvincent: Interestingly when I go into the modem wireless config it says that the wireless is running at 64mbs.

You might improve your wireless router by looking if you have a setting for 40MHz. If that doesn't exist, look up the specs for your router. As suggested here this looks suspiciously like a local router/cable issue.

But keep us posted!

I have 3 yr old grubby Netgear DGND3700. My speed test result is exactly like my signature over Wi-Fi 5 ghz band. I had to tweak the MTU after moving from ADSL
