ushare: i have been looking into this, and i think it might be possible.

My friends wife has authority on the account. And i dont plan to disconnect the current connectiong they have, just not use it. Instead use SNAPS vdsl naked plan?

Is this really not possible? I really dont see why not

Once you overcome all of your billing issues and who's actually going to pay the account it's etirely possible to install on the 2nd pair. Just we as aware as mentioned above that a $400 connection fee will probably apply.

$400 is the standard Chorus price for a new POTS off VDSL2 installation where wiring is required. Because you're wanting to keep your existing service and use the 2nd pair into the house to run two services simultaneously wiring is required and Chorus are required to visit the premisses to undertake this work.

If you get Chorus to install the new line directly to a xDSL only jackpoint no master filter will be required.

Nothing is wrong with your line.

You've said you want to keep the existing phoneline and ADSL2+ and install VDSL2 as a secondary connection. Several posts above explain in detail how this can be done. The copper cable coming to the house should support 2 pairs so you'll be able to get a naked VDSL2 connection to the house, this will require Chorus connecting it at the exchange/cabinet, at the pole/pillar/pedestal, and then installing a new jackpoint and wiring inside the premises.

The costs for a Chorus technician visiting the premises to do work are fixed. For a new POTS off VDSL2 install this is $400

I am really sorry mate. I am still very confused.

I have one jack point at the moment. I plan to keep their adsl 2+ connection activated with telecom but plan to use the one with snap instead. They will not be running simultaneously.

Would i still need a new POTS installation?

You don't need another POTS installation. POTS has nothing to do with this because you're wanting a naked connection. The process you need to follow is detailed above in a number of posts.

If you can't understand what has already been written I would suggest you don't go with the path of attempting what you want to do.

Ok then i might just offer to tell him and pay for his broadband for a year.

With vdsl, is it compulsory to get a master filter installed? What if i dont and try to use vdsl?

I'm actually not going to repeat once again what is probably already discussed in 50+ threads on here and also discussed in depth in a big blog post I wrote on this topic. You'll find plenty of information using the search box at the top.
