Still on lousy ADSL1 broadband myself , in Warrington 20KM north of Dunedin installed in 2004 , we missed out on a cabinet upgrade twice once in 2008 .blueskin.co.nz/2007/08/telecoms-response-to-seacliff-broadband.html and again last year when our local school received a direct fibre connection through the RBI, according to the Dunedin digital office the local cabinet should have been upgraded at the same time to improve the ADSL speeds in the area. (that's the theory) , granted we have a RBI Vodafone wireless tower solution but most of us get our broadband through fixed line and Telecom don't offer rural wireless broadband and besides the service has low data caps and cost of joining is through the roof compared to fixed line prices not ideal for our area , our neighbouring areas Waitati and Purakaunui both have assess to ADSL2+ and VDSL why not us ? , currently there are about 7 telecom customers on a waiting list to be connected to fixed line broadband but the cabinet has run out of space. When you ring Telecom to complain about the speeds being very slow, just over 0.5 of a Mbit they try and tell you it should be something close to the sync speed of 7.6Mbit, I wish .
When are we getting a cabinet upgrade? , next decade maybe .

We are in the same boat. Only 5 minutes from Queenstown in a suburb called Arthur's point.

But adsl1 only. With terrible speed.

No fibre. No vdsl. No 4g. No adsl2 planned.

We want the speed and are happy to pay for it. Our neighbours also. But no company offers a product.

Even looking at country net as an option... But unfortunately it's not available here also....

Very frustrating.
