DarthKermit:InstallerUFB: A bit of back ground info for thoses interested. The whole community @ Glinks Gully (approx 70 dewellings) is feed by 50pair (with the cableing being aerial down from the top of the hill - approx 1km). These 50prs then feed out to many small pair count local cables which feed in and around the properties.
- the photos dont show any corrosion of the cables that I can see ( they both show some rubbish hung up on the cable). The Messenger wire (the one that is molded into the side of the cable to hold it up) is actualy a high tensil cold roled galvinised wire, which is stronger than normal No8, and it is normal for the outside to corrode is salt enviroments.
Do you know how many of those 50 pairs are corroded and no longer viable?
Given its the west coast i would suggest maybe a few.
