Yeah both wired and wireless are lagging, it's not insane lag but every so often everything will freeze for 3-4 seconds then resume in a fast-forward like motion... It just happened while the Wireless was off too btw... :\

You're probably maxing out your ADSL2+ upstream which isn't difficult to do, which then affects your downstream. The solution is to move to VDSL2.

Didn't have this problem on my old modem though, the only problem my old modem had was crashing during wifi

this one doesn't crash, just lags every so often... I think I will try QoS which was mentioned before

Could you give us some ADSL stats? - downstream attenuation, SNR, sync rates down/up, OOKLA speed test.

If the issue is upstream saturation QoS can't fix the problem. QoS can only prioritise and queue traffic, it can't magically give you more bandwidth.

It doesn't take an awful lot to saturate a ~700kbps upstream ADSL2+ connection if you've got multiple users sharing a connection with somebody gaming that could easily be using ~500kbps of that. General web surfing can then easily use 200kbps and the second you saturate your connection your latency will spike.

bit of an interesting downstream SNR there, whats the connection up time?

at 14.9db attenuation, vdsl is likely to be denied or VERY borderline. unless inhouse issues are increasing your attenuation.

The modem (and my previous one) literally never went down so my uptime is pretty good.

My old modem WAG160N would crash when someone used wireless, this one (N55U) seems to lag when someone uses it.. I have disabled WiFI while I'm gaming right now, haven't noticed any lag yet.

Could i simply limit the WifI?

I'm gonna go ahead and say it's not upload saturation, despite popular belief...

3 connections all playing video games, no heavy upload whatsoever and I have mentioned multiple times my previous modem didn't have this problem, there's no way replacing my modem magically causes upload saturation?

either this thing is faulty or there's a setting I've broken somewhere.

Do you already have an ADSL master filter with a dedicated line running to your ADSL jackpoint?

If you do, your high (14.9dB) downstream attenuation is probably "real", meaning that a VDSL connection would be borderline, as hio77 says.
If, on the other hand, you have horrible old house wiring and no master filter, this could explain your high attenuation, at least in part - and improve your chances of passing a VDSL prequal test and getting useful VDSL.

High number of upstream errors there - this is usually caused by poor wiring, or a faulty joint somewhere.

Very interesting, I've disabled Wireless and haven't lagged at all for the past 2 hours now?

Not really sure what my options are, I can't have Wireless disabled as a permanent option because people need the WiFi :\ which is why I'm wondering if I could just limit the wireless and that would fix my problems?
