Hey guys,
Sorry for the length, hopefully someone actually bothers to read my wall of text.
I'm currently on an ADSL2+ connection with a Linksys WAG160N modem, I have checked all my filters and had an isolation test done, everything seemed normal from my ISP's point of view.
The Problem
The modem works flawlessly when 4 wired connections are active, we can stream/download/game and the modem never crashes. However, when someone uses WiFi everything goes down hill. The wired connections become slower, the modem itself starts giving up (can't even access modem settings) and then eventually crashes once download speeds go above 200-300kb/s (on the wireless) which means I have to force a restart.
TLDR: Modem dies with WiFi activity
I have tried changing channels, monitoring connection activity/security and firmware updates.. the problem still persists.
Question
Now, the modem itself (on the box) has a picture under "Wireless Activity" which indicates what the wireless is good for.. the pictures are highlighted all the way to "multiple computers" but the images for gaming, streaming music and streaming tv are shaded out.. this might sound insanely noobish (let's face it, I'm a network noob) does this mean it clearly says on the box, if you try to game/stream using WiFi you're gonna have a bad time?
Solution
Should I switch to VDSL (I'm on the edge of coverage according to my friend that works at Chorus) or should I purchase an expensive but powerful ADSL2+ Modem instead? (recommend one please, preferably with 4 ports for wired and strong WiFi)
Cheers, highly appreciate any feedback on this.
