considering this along with what you have said, i would have expected to see a 'bullet' cabinet.

if its a replcement of a resonalbly sized existing cab ( or like the 4 cabinets that make up WAK/B ) then the equipement space of a larger single or double bay whisper would take priority over the possible future residential blown fibre

Whisper cabs can accomodate blown feeder fibre (4/7/12 way 10/11mm microducting) - there just not predesigned for accommodating the ducting (26way 5mm) for local blown distribution fibre (12 fibres or less) - to do this a seperate blown fibre terminal is installed nearby instead of intergrated like the smaller bullet cabinet.

for more distant rural fibre distribution the large tubes/ducts can be accessed [along with the larger fibre count cables](at the pits along the route) and fibre joints or terminal inclosures can be added to access the fibre for local distribution at these points

There is fiber that runs up along side the current exchange as there is a tv /radio/3G station at the top of the hill, not sure if its connected to the exchange or not.

Orginally alot of the first microducting that was laid was only 7 way feeder fibre (7x10mm tubes) but alot of the newer stuff now is a mixtures of both 10mm tubes and 5mm tubes (3x10mm tubes and 12x5mm tubes with pits every 1300m

Cbfd: Orginally alot of the first microducting that was laid was only 7 way feeder fibre (7x10mm tubes) but alot of the newer stuff now is a mixtures of both 10mm tubes and 5mm tubes (3x10mm tubes and 12x5mm tubes with pits every 1300m

and the later stuff is then ones that 'blown' fibre terminals can be easerly added into the pits and the tubes can be tapped off along the route to houses etc and the earlyer stuff requires additional duct laying from the pit to the house (more expencive to provision off)

sorry timmay556 - unfortunatly your existing fibre quote is like saying there is a river running down the back of my property therfore i should have running water in my tap - yes there may be fibre near but there are differnent types/owners/users/requirements and paths for differnt fibre circuits of whic new RBI cabinets is but one

Alright, that makes sense!

the cabinet im personally referring to is WAK/C. to my knowledge there hasn't been a cabinet for WAK/B turn up there yet, so i couldn't comment on that!

Pits seem to be a fair bit closer here! ild assume the Sbends and such are the cause for that somewhat though!

Well get this, In 3 working days they have dug a trench around the old box, installed the new plinth with some green piping in the ground, and installed the new cabinet (doesn't look anything like the Bullet posted above... Its a big grey one with two doors. Then have covered the ground back up again!!!

I would commend their progress so far!

sounds like you too, are looking a a whisper cabinet.

They do the installations in bursts it seems from watching the installation here.
